Nigerian afrobeats artist C Natty today shares his debut single ‘Ojah’ out now via emPawa Africa, along with the hypnotic video.
“Ojah” is the first release from the #emPawa30, a new cohort of 30 artists selected to participate in afropop superstar Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa talent incubator program.
EmPawa Africa provides emerging artists with the tools, startup funding and mentorship to become artist-entrepreneurs. The #emPawa30 represents the second phase of the program, with artists representing eight African countries, C NATTY being one of 10 #emPawa30 artists from Nigeria receiving funding and support through a partnership with YouTube Music.
Featuring a jazzy afrobeats rhythm from the notorious Nigerian producer Killertunes and striking, allegory-rich visuals from director DK of Priorgold Pictures, C NATTY’s “Ojah” announces the arrival of a major new talent in African music. The track tells the story of a man travelling away, getting rich, coming back to spend it all until having to run away once again. “Ojah” can be translated to “escape”, making sense in this story about stubbornness and cowardness.
